Updating Personal Wills

Every year before Summer, we encourage all parishioners to review their Wills and update them if necessary during the Summer months.  A well written and current Will is a loving gift to those who are suffering the great loss of one who is so close and intimate to them.  Especially important is reviewing the asset list upon which the Will is drawn.

Parish Collection for Middle East Christians

During Lent, the Parish of St. Anne's collected an amount of Hong Kong $169,550 for the direct benefit of Middle East Christians!

That amount is more than mere assistance; it's a life-changer for a good number of persons we may never meet in this world. May their lives contribute to the peace and wellbeing of ours.

Heartfelt gratitude to all who have sacrificially responded to this Lenten appeal on behalf of the most vulnerable among us.

Sincerely, Fr. John.

This is the second time this year that Taizé music is coming to St Anne's.

Season of Lent

Season of Lent

If you are thinking of making sacrificial almsgiving a part of your Lenten practices this year, St. Anne's will again be collecting for direct assistance to Middle-Eastern Christians as almost all of them struggle to remain in the Middle-East; many of them waiting in refugee camps for repatriation back to their home countries, while a smaller number build new lives as immigrants.

There will be a special box for alms for this purpose at the back of the church after each of the weekend masses throughout Lent.

The Anawim Way

The Anawim Way

Why you might consider The Anawim Way to deepen your prayer life this Lent:

1. "What was that all about?" If you've ever asked yourself this question by the end of the Gospel reading at Mass (or wondered if there was even a link between the readings), The Anawim Way can lead you to a clearer, more personal understanding of the daily Mass readings.

2. In the reflections both simple and powerful, hear God's message FOR YOU each day. (Happy warning: It can get quite personal!)

3. For the price of a cup of coffee that may tide you over for 4 hours, the Anawim Way will keep you nourished for 40 days!

Limited copies are now available at the church office. For further information, please contact Gigi Tse at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.(9318-8212).

The Season of Lent

The Season of Lent will soon be upon us, beginning on Ash Wednesday, March 1st.

Lent is a time of special prayer, fasting and sacrificial almsgiving. This applies both communally and privately, and in appropriate ways from the young to those advanced in age.

Ash Wednesday is a day of Fast and of Abstinence; abstinence from the consumption of meat, and fasting in the amount of our food intake on that day.

There will be two English language masses for Ash Wednesday. Ashes will be distributed at both masses. The first mass will take place at the Carmelite Sisters at 7:15 AM. The second mass will take place at the parish church at 8:00 PM.

Also during Lent, the Stations of the Cross will be prayed on the following Wednesday evenings at 8 pm, followed by a communion service: March 8, 15, 22, 29 and April 5 and 12.

Little Sisters of the Poor

This weekend the Little Sisters of the Poor have again been invited to St. Anne's.

They are a very hands-on international community of religious women who care medically and spiritually for those among us who otherwise would not have access to long term clinical treatment or palliative care. Their patient-clients are lay people, usually aged, who are either uninsured or underinsured, but they also care for religious women and men in similar circumstances. They have two centers in Hong Kong, and many others throughout the world.

On this Mother's Day, I ask that you please respond generously to the annual appeal for support from these women who are true Mothers to those who, though adults, are as vulnerable and dependent as children.
